Collaborative Doctoral Studentship - Making an impression: British women printmakers in the Long Eighteenth Century

Applications are invited for an AHRC-funded Collaborative Doctoral Studentship researching the role, status and output of amateur and professional women printmakers in Britain during the long eighteenth century, drawing on the Victoria & Albert Museum’s strong collections of work by women printmakers of this period.

Speaker: Sarah Bodman is an artist and Senior Research Fellow for Artists' Books at the University of the West of England’s Centre for Fine Print Research (CFPR).

Sarah will discuss how artists work creatively with the book format showing physical examples by national and international artists, including projects from the annual World Book Night event.

For our 2018 Annual Conference we are inviting sessions proposals that respond to the idea of ‘looking outwards'. We encourage engagement with art history in the broadest sense, and seek to incorporate a diverse range of papers and perspectives.

Conference - “ACT UP: Thirty Years Fighting AIDS”, University of York (UK)

2017 is the 30th anniversary of the founding of ACT UP, the international advocacy group fighting to end the AIDS crisis. Today, the organization continues to fight, leading educational campaigns all over the world. 

To coincide with this anniversary, a one-day conference will be held at the University of York on June 1st and 2nd, 2017 which will bring together academics from a variety of disciplines to reflect upon what has changed, and what has not, in the past thirty years.
