Call for Papers - Southern Horrors :The Dark Side of the Mediterranean World Seen from Northern Europe and America (1453-1939)

The overall aim of this conference is to examine the the historical conditions - cultural, social, aesthetic and personal - that determined negative perceptions of the Mediterranean world by artists, writers and observers from the North(or their invention) and inspired their representations of it over this long period.
Submissions are invited for papers on any aspect of this theme.
Registration fee 30 euros.
